Safe Sex "When we have conversations about safe sex, it typically consists of disciplinary lectures surrounding contraception use. Although contraception is a vital element to having safe sex, there are numerous other elements that contribute to this overarching conversation. The use of safety pins and condoms are symbolic of rejecting contraception as the only element of safe sex, in the way the objects have obvious adverse effects upon each other. Discussing consent, sexual health testing, and societal pressures surrounding sex, these themes help broaden the scope of what safe sex is, and more importantly what it means to each individual. The curated art through the website utilizes the design elements of pattern, grid, figure/ground, hierarchy, colour and layer to demonstrate the messages behind the designs."

Highway farm was inspired during the adaptive process of recording at my Oma’s farm located in Mount Hope. I chose the worst day to record, with high winds and weekend traffic, picking up all the sounds I originally wanted to avoid. This weekend trip on the farm struck a chord between nostalgia and reality, in which the two often contradict one another. I don't remember the highway being as loud as it is today, a constant hum in the background in what feels like an urban farm. Was the highway always this busy? Did I never realize how loud the cars were when I was younger? Or is this something that just comes with age? The piece explores small excerpts from a place that is juxtaposed with memories that are happy and sad, loud and quiet, soft and hard, rural and city, looking into everyday elements of farm life are affected by the numbing effect of the highway's hum through its audio perception.
